For Immediate ReleaseTreasure Coast SCORE Sets New Record April 25, 2007 Lee Boettcher, Chairman of the Treasure Coast Chapter of The SCORE Association, announced today that this group of local volunteer business advisors and mentors made 1500 business assistance contacts during fiscal year 2006, and have already accomplished 878 in the first six months of FY 2007 (starting October 1). After the hurricane problems in the last several years, the local SCORE Chapter has been busy aiding some small businesses in getting back to full production, and others in getting started from scratch. This progress tracks FY 2006 national performance where the 10900 members in 374 SCORE Chapters made 296,739 quality business assistance contacts. Clients are assisted in face to face meetings, by phone contacts, by mail, and by email, as the situation requires. The Treasure Coast SCORE Chapter is a member of each of the local Chambers of Commerce. Appointments for meetings are often made through the Chambers, with the actual work done on site at their offices. SCORE is proud to be part of the support staff that is available at no charge through these service organizations. As necessary, SCORE counselors will visit business sites to evaluate and recommend operational changes or adjustments. There is absolutely no charge for these services. SCORE is made up of volunteers who have been involved in business throughout their careers, and who want to assist others in becoming successful. Backgrounds are varied, and many industries and specialties are represented. In addition, a national registry of specialists is available to the counselors to allow them to get special advice and access remote expertise. SCORE counseling is available through the local office in Ft. Pierce, 772-489-0548, by logging onto the website www.SCORE308.com, or by calling one of the Chamber of Commerce offices and asking for an appointment. Counseling is generally scheduled in one hour blocks. Also……. anyone who is interested in considering joining the local SCORE volunteer organization should call the Ft. Pierce office and make an appointment with the Chapter Leadership Committee.
